Desktop Wallpaper Help.
Before you download a wallpaper design you need to know which resolution you are going to use. If the wallpaper is for your monitor & you are using Windows, you can view your screen resolution by going to the Control Panel, selecting Display, then the Settings tab.
Mac users can click on the Apple Logo in the top left corner of the screen. Pull down the menu and go to Control Panels. Find Monitors or Monitors and Sound. Open the Monitors menu. The size of your monitor, in pixels, will be listing under Resolution.
If you have left JavaScript turned on in your browser, you should see your screen resolution displayed below.
Each image is available in the most common sizes (in pixels) in use today.
- 640x480
- 800x600
- 1024x768
- 1280x1024
- 1600x1200
The dimensions of your screen don't have to exactly match the dimensions of the image you're saving as wallpaper. Pick the image that is nearest to the dimensions of your screen.
Wallpaper Help For Windows
There are two ways to install wallpaper images in Windows. Recent versions of Internet Explorer & Firefox allow you to right-click on any image you are viewing on screen & set it as the desktop wallpaper. It should be noted that each time you do this, it will over-write the previous wallpaper.
A better way is detailed step by step below, this method allows you to change your wallpaper without losing the old one.
- First download & save the wallpaper file in a folder on your hard drive.
- Open the Control Panel, select Display, then the Desktop tab.
- (Windows XP users can right-click over the desktop & select Properties, then Desktop tab.)
- From this desktop panel, Browse to the folder containing the new wallpaper file.
- Select the new wallpaper file.
- Click the Open button to copy the new wallpaper into the display panel background list.
- Scroll to your new file.
- Select your new file & click Apply.
- The new wallpaper will now be displayed on your desktop.
- Click ok to exit.
Wallpaper Help For MAC
Mac users can set a wallpaper by first viewing the image on the screen (by clicking the link as normal) & then by holding the mouse button down and saving the image. Then simply select the wallpaper as a desktop pattern from the Desktop Patterns control panel.

If you are running Mac System 8.5 or above
- Go to the Apple menu and select the Appearance Control Panel.
- Click on the Desktop tab.
- If you already have wallpaper on your desktop click on the Remove Picture button to remove it.
- Now click the Select Picture button to select you new wallpaper file.
- Select your wallpaper & click the Set Desktop button.
- Close the window to exit.
If you are running Mac System 8
- Go to the Apple menu and select the Desktop Pictures Control Panel.
- Click on the Picture tab.
- If you already have wallpaper on your desktop click on the Remove Picture button to remove it.
- Now click the Select Picture button to select you new wallpaper file.
- Select your wallpaper & click the Set Desktop button.
- Close the window to exit.
If you are running Mac System 7 or older
Your system has no built-in support for desktop wallpapers. In order to set a wallpaper, you will need a third party program.
