Q. How many times can a wallpaper be used?

Q. I notice that the SharpPlum wallpapers only feature the website and one e-mail address. Is it possible to add other details?

A. Very much so, any details required (contact or otherwise) can be placed within the overall scheme of a wallpaper as each one is individually designed for the company that commisions the piece.

Q. The SharpPlum wallpapers don't have any reference to web design at all. Can a wallpaper be created that is more focused on the services offered by a company?

A. Yes, wallpapers that are tightly focused on products or promotions are often intended for in-house use by companies. In order for site visitors to perceive a wallpaper as a piece of artwork rather than an advert, it is usual to strip away all but the most vital message from the company. This often leaves just the name, as is found on the SharpPlum wallpapers but there are no unbreakable rules here.

Q. What happens if the details given on a wallpaper change at a later date?

A. The original artwork is always stored by SharpPlum to allow for any re-drawing and alterations that might be needed in the future. Alterations to minor details such as telephone numbers are made free of charge if the site containing the wallpaper is hosted with SharpPlum..

Q. How many wallpapers do other companies tend to buy?

A. The most common amount for medium sized firms is three original designs with three variations made from each. This offers nine different designs for visitors to choose. Smaller businesses tend to commision only one unique piece and then have several variations made from the original in order to offer some choice to their site visitors. The design variations bring the cost per design down considerably.

Q. What exactly is a full set of wallpapers?

A. A full set refers to the range of sizes made available to a site visitor for each wallpaper design. All the sizes within a set are of the same design. Providing a range of sizes allows a site visitor to select the nearest size to match their own monitor or display screen. An example of this can be viewed at the wallpaper download section.

Q. Am I charged for each size of wallpaper for my design?

A. No, the standard charge for each piece of original artwork includes the full set of sizes. The standard charge for any variations made from an original piece also includes a full set of sizes for each design variation created.

Q. I have use for a few wallpapers but do not have a website at the moment, is this a problem?

A. Not at all. A wallpaper is a piece of artwork that is produced separately from a website. The usual method of distribution is via a website but discs that form part of a pack & USB devices can also be utilised. Wallpapers intended for in-house use also need not be made available for public distribution if that is your wish.

Q. If I am not buying a website, how do I physically get the finished Wallpaper?

A. A private area of the SharpPlum website will be made available for immediate download of the completed project. Also the files may be burned to disc and posted.

Q. Why are there different sizes for each wallpaper design?

A. There are several resolution settings in common use, usually the larger the display screen the larger the resolution used. A standard 19 inch monitor can comfortably accomodate a setting of 1280 by 1024 providing four times more workspace than the average monitor from ten years ago. A computer desktop has the ability to shrink or stretch a wallpaper to fit the screen but this distorts the image. It is better to allow the site visitor to choose from various sizes. This is included in the standard wallpaper design price.

Q. Are all sizes downloaded onto my computer?

A. No, each image size is a separate file. Only the selected size is downloaded. An example of this can be viewed at the wallpaper download section.

Q. How do I download & display a wallpaper?

Q. Can I commision a wallpaper for use on a plasma display?

A. Yes, simply state the resolution setting of the display to be used (if known) and an exact fit can be provided. This is included in the standard price for wallpaper design.
