Q. How do the extras work?
A. All of the upgrades are optional separate features that enhance a website. They can be added to a site from the start or at a later time. If used well, they can bring excellent value to a site.
Q. Does the site evaluation report contain advice on any problems found or just highlight them?
A. Whilst highlighting any problem remains a vital step, recommendations to remedy or improve an area are made within the site evaluation report.
Q. I already have a website but my designer does not offer any such extras, can I buy an upgrade from you?
A. Not usually, most of the upgrades cannot be added onto a site without altering the code. The code of a site is owned by the author/s of the code, in most cases that would be the site designer. An exception to this is when a site has been developed in-house by employees of the firm. Should the author/s not allow any alteration to their work, a re-design service is available from SharpPlum which can incorporate any upgrade.
Q. Will the search page be included in our 12 page allowance from the bronze package?
A. No, any upgrade extra includes the necessary page as well. This is in addition to the number of pages you have from your website package. In this instance you will have 13 pages in the website, should you purchase the sitemap extra this would increase to 14 pages in total.
Q. Can we have a secure area in our website if we are doing our own hosting?
A. Unfortunately secure areas (SSL) is one of the optional extras that are only available to sites hosted with SharpPlum.
Q. Is the SSL price charged per page?
A. No this extra is not charged per page. The price is for the facility of SSL security, you may place any of your pages within this area without additional cost.
Q. If we upgrade to the unlimited hosting, does this give unlimited downloading of our manuals?
A. Yes, provided the fair use policy is not violated (it would require massive automated abuse for your manuals to do this) the service would be unmonitored & unlimited allowing your site visitors to freely download any such manuals.
Q. Could we add a splashpage to our website & still be considered accessible?
A. Yes, modern splashpages are as accessible as any other part of a site. Inaccessibility was the reason splashpages fell out of favour, this is no longer a problem. You may add a splashpage to enhance your website with confidence.
Q. Could a picture from a brochure be used to make a showcase advert?
A. Provided the picture quality is good, any material can be used to create a showcase advert.
